Cher remembers her friend Tina Turner as being happy, but also being sick.

The legendary singer called out “The Beat With Ari Melber” and shared her memories of Turner, who died Wednesday at the age of 83 after a “long illness”, his family said.

“She fought this disease for so long and she was so strong that you think she would be,” Cher said. “But I know towards the end, she said to me once, she said, ‘I’m really ready. I don’t want to put up with this anymore,'” Cher said.

Without identifying what afflicted Turner, Cher said Turner had a dialysis machine in her home when she visited. Dialysis is a treatment used for people with advanced kidney disease.

According to Cher, Turner reveled in visits from his friends.
